Course Overview: This program is the second in a series of three course offerings designed to prepare nurses to work with families of children with disabilities. Each program has specific objectives and may be taken separately, or as part of the series. Part II focuses on establishing effective parent/professional partnerships and highlights the empowerment model for collaboration between parents and professionals. There is also a comprehensive overview of the early intervention system, the school system for special education and related services, and state programs that provide services to children with disabilities.
