Target audience:

This course is designed for all nurses who have professional and/or personal contact with infants, children and their caregivers.

Learner outcomes:

The learner will be able to:

• Report gain scores in knowledge of the incidence, mortality and morbidity associated with Abusive Head Trauma (AHT).
• Assess a child considering the leading precipitating factors in AHT.
• Assess the mechanism of injury in a child with Abusive Head Trauma
• Report a child with signs and symptoms of AHT to appropriate individuals.
• Educate parents of newborns in order to prevent AHT..
